Psychologist Says Bilingual Interrogation Rattled Language-Troubled Student
An importer paid high school student Guillermo Vallejo $15 to drive a car across the Mexican border into the U.S. Customs inspectors found 40 kilograms of marijuana stuffed in the car. As the inspectors interrogated Vallejo, he responded in Spanish and English. When they later recalled the interrogation for the court, Vallejo and the inspectors indeed spoke different languages.
